Attorney Mike Coco defended a military member accused of downloading child pornography
onto his personal laptop. Law-enforcement agents interrogated the client for a
number of hours. At the end of that lengthy interrogation, the client wrote out
what appeared to be an eight page confession admitting to what the government alleged.
However, through the cross examination of law enforcement agent in the case, Mike
was able to show that the confession was a product of poorly used interrogation
tactics. The defense was also able to use its highly experienced forensic computer
analyst to suppress some unreliable “scientific” evidence the government attempted
to introduce at trial. The client was acquitted of all charges and specifications.
Attorney Mike Coco also defended another military member accused of receiving,
possessing and viewing child pornography. He was also charged with performing sexual
acts via the Internet in front of a child. With the expert assistance of a highly
skilled computer forensic analyst, Mike was able to show the images of the child
found on the clients computer had never been opened before. The defense showed
there was no evidence whatsoever that our client knew the images even existed.
Also, through cross-examination of the alleged child in the images, the child’s
mother, and other computer users in an online simulated society, Mike was able
to show that many of the witnesses were divorced from reality and were confusing
their online society with actual events. Our client was acquitted of all charges
